Digital Signature for Companies in Bangalore: Individual vs Organisation DSC
Which DSC does a Pvt Ltd or LLP director need — Individual or Organisation? Here's how the two differ, when each is required, and how to buy them together.
New directors of Pvt Ltd or LLP entities in Bangalore ask this every week: do I need an Individual DSC, an Organisation DSC, or both? The answer depends on what you're signing.
The two DSC types, side by side
- Class 3 Individual DSC — issued in your personal name, tied to your PAN. Used for personal filings: Income Tax, GST (if you're a proprietor), MCA director filings like DIR-3 KYC, e-tendering bids in your name.
- Class 3 Organisation DSC — issued in the company's name (via an authorised signatory), tied to the company's PAN. Used for filings under the company: GST returns for Pvt Ltd / LLP, e-Invoicing, e-Way bills, tenders bid by the company, statutory MCA filings signed on behalf of the entity.
What most directors actually need
Both. Individual DSC for DIR-3 KYC (annual, mandatory, personal filing) and Organisation DSC for the company's GST and MCA filings. New Pvt Ltd incorporations usually order 2–3 Individual DSCs (one per director) plus 1 Organisation DSC after the company gets its PAN.
The paperwork difference
Individual DSC needs just your PAN + Aadhaar + video verification. Organisation DSC needs an additional board resolution (or authorisation letter) naming you as the authorised signatory, plus company PAN, incorporation certificate, and address proof.
